My very first toy!

My very first toy!
Where to start.. Well my first truck was a old ford Bronco II with a 5spd. It was a fun little truck, but had several issues. I ended up buying a Mercury mountaineer about a year and a half ago. It was a 97 with the 302, love the power. But it became boring with the auto. And it lacked any kind of low range, completly useless offroad. And to top it off, I had to use floor jacks to work underneath the damn thing! Its basicly a mini van on steroids.
So the hunt for a new car or truck with a manual tranny began in the summer. I tried a few subarus, but I did not trust their head gaskets and they were all overpriced. So a couple months ago I started looking at Toyotas. After looking around for awhile I decided that I wanted to find a decent one for under $3000. And it had to be a extended cab with a 5spd and 4 wheel drive. Most of them around here in that range were either standard cabs or rusted beyond repair.
Last week I found one that looked decent on ebay. It needed some work though. And as the week went on the bids went up. Then on Friday night I check out carsoup.com again and find one that fit the bill for $2000. And then on saterday seen one listed locally in the paper for $2500, and it was closer. So I first checked out the one for $2500 and it was covered in bondo and primer, but looked decent. Then I went and looked at the other one and 20 minutes later I bought it. I was able to pick it up last night and took some pictures of it today.
So here it is, my very fisrt toy!
err wait, thats my first Bruiser..... Here is my full size toy
Its a 89 with 215k on it. I got it from the second owner, and all the receipts were kept from both previous owners. I even have the original window sticker sales sheet!
I need to fix the parking brake on it. The exhaust has a hole in it behind the muffler. I will probably go with fiberglass fenders up in the front. And the rest of the rust will be repaired in the spring. I will also repair some rust in the bed and hurculine it in the spring. The topper will go as soon as I have the money to replace it with a tonnuea cover. And there are a few other little things I need to look at.
Its going to stay mostly stock for now, the tires are to new to just replace with 31's. But I do plan to take it off roading a couple times a year. It is my new daily driver though, so the mods will be tame.

Thank you guys
Well the truck will remain tame until the budget allows me to add on more, air lockers would be nice...
The bruiser does have locked diffs front and back. And it came with stock nerf bars... But I didn't like the look of them. And that bruiser is the first one I bought off ebay. I've put a bit of time into it and changed out a few parts. My other Bruiser has alot more into it, but its a shelf queen.
And I am from the northeast twin cities area.

I payed around $400 for that one a few years ago. Then I put some more money into it.. I really don't want to know how much is in it though. But I have a ton of pictures of it up on my site on this page http://www.rc-offroad.com/bruiser.htm
This weekend I am going to attempt to fix the parking brake. The dummy light wire is disconnected on it. The handle just spins and spins, and doesn't pull out very far. On the back axle only one of the drums is connected to a cable, the other one is just missing. I am thinking all the cables need to be replaced. And alot of parts will need some liquid wrench. I hope I can figure out the whole mess before the weekend is over and enjoy a few beers after the jobs all done
