my truck is being funny

I don't understand whats going on. If I was to go out and start my truck it would start normal (i have not yet started it this morning). But if i drive it somewhere, either across my town or to another city and i stop somewhere to shop or whatever and then go back to start it, it won't start...it will crank but it will not catch or whatever it does. It did this last year too and i eventually had to replace the starter because it would not even crank. but if i let it sit for an hour or two then it will start again...could it be the fuel filter maybe? or the pump-but if it was the pump then wouldn't not even start, even if the engine was cold? so idk, let me know what you think!

thanks

Check your wires. Sounds like you've got some bad wiring. When cold you can get enough electricity through. When wires get too hot, the resistance goes up and it's harder to get the electricity through. If you've got some corroded wires, you will have to let the engine cool down before a restart.

Try cleaning the throttle body. I've had the same thing happen. Then used some carb cleaner, cleaned the crap out and it doesn't do that anymore. If it's really bad, you can take the TB off and clean it that way...just depends on how dirty it is. Give that a shot and see what happens.

My 84 Camry starting doing that. It would turn over, but I would have to crank it a long time to get it to started sometimes.

I finally cleaned the throttle body, ran a can of BG 44K through it, and then I used Seafoam on the throttle body. Haven't had a problem since.

I would second the opinion to check wires, exspecially those that have to do with the ignition.. I notice on the 22re that they run the wires pretty close over the header and If you have a 4cyl I would start there.

Sounds like it's your starter. Re-furbished starters rarely last more than 2 years from my experience. Also within the starter there is a solenoid. The solenoid sometimes doesn't throw the starter gear into the flywheel and hence will not fully engage to turn the engine over. When you said "it turns over" I believe you were speaking of your starter not your engine right?
