What can I do to keep it in working condition? I read that they tend to break pretty easy. Is there some lube or grease that I should be putting on it?

Mine's still going on my '99 at 130k+ miles and I've been using WD40 on it every few months and just keep it clean.

I dab some silicone grease every now and then. If it breaks, then I'm just going to put in a Tacoma whip. I get tired of hearing that thing whining up and down all the time, anyway.

Mine is broken and I just want to put a whip in, how can I get to the damn thing, and is the antenna cable like a CB that I can splice a new antenna on to it rather than have to feed a new wire to the back of the radio?
