How do they fix rust ? Is this normal for the frame to rust if the paint gets scratched off ?

Unprotected steel rusts, anywhere it does not have paint on ot, it will rust. Sa;t and lots of rain will speed the process. Somebody probably nicked the paint with a chain wjile they were loading it onto a car hauler, and it rusted a little. You can have toyota fix it maybe, or just scarape it off and use a $2.00 can of rustolium and forget about it.

My dad's '05 Taco has rust on the rear bumper. He's getting that fixed on Saturday. If you take it back the dealership should take care of you.

The only rust on my 01 is where they mounted the trailer hitch to the frame. That's coming off and will take it down to bear metal first and then several coats of Rustolium. They salt the roads here all winter so I think a new truck should not be showing any sign of rust or paint chipping unless you have been flying down gravel roads and bouncing off rocks in the bounies. If my 01 can stand up all this time to salted roads and off road driving then I see no reason for a new 05 to show rust already. If they tell you that's natural then I would hate to see that truck a few years from now.Take it back, it's a new truck!

Actually the rust is under the chrome. They allready told him if they don't think they can fix it he will just get a new bumper. And no, I live in Utah, but I believe the new Tacos are being made in Cali if that has anything to do with anything?

Hmm./.. in my 2000 4runner, i dont think i saw rust anywhere on the frame.
But then again i live in Georgia where saltwater nor roadsalt in winters isn't really a problem. The only place where i have rust is where the coating came off where there's welding on the tow hitch. But other than that, no rust.
