Multimode TC problem (VF3AM)
Iv just fitted the multimode case in my 95 series prado but have got a problem 2wd works great but when I hit the 4wd button it goes into 4wd but the centre diff is locked I can't unlock it , moving the transfer selector from hi2/hi4open pos to hi4L pos dose nothing it feels smooth and moves every time easily it's not sloppy and does move the selector rods inside the case
Having never had one of these multimode cases I don't know what the centre diff should feel like when moving the selector
They only ever come into Australia in the imported 185 surfs and there's bugger all of these around
So has anyone had the problem where they cannot get the centre diff into the open position??

4Runners with Multi-Mode 4WD (2001-2002) also have a push button for locking the center differential (and thus disabling VSC & TRAC).
Did you also install this or just the physical transfer case?

Yeah it was out of a KZN185 jap import hilux surf.... Same as the forerunner ,
Iv put the case in with the actuator on it,
After 6 hours of searching on the net ks think Iv found the problem....
Looks like the 4wd actuator controls 2-4 but also the centre diff very little info on how it works
Iv never seen this factory fitted in a car in aus , there super rare , so finding one to even look at just isn't really possible and no one knows anything about then here !
