Multi-Mount Winches

I was just wondering why more people dont use multi-mount winches? I really like them for the option of use on more than 1 vehicle or for putting them on the back to winch yourself backwards. So could someone please tell me why hardly anyone uses them?
Thanks

used it to pull my butt out of the imfamous tank trap at hollister.

used it to do a sideways pull (from front to tree on right side to rear bumper).

Hey do you have any more pics of how you have the receiver tube mounted to the frame?
Thanks

oh... i thought you asked if i had any...

[/sarcasm]

my welder/friend just took an L-channel and bolted it to the 3 bolts that holds the tow hook and the loop on each side of the frame.

then just custom made the center bar that holds the receiver.

then i told him to over kill it. so he welded top and bottom plates to the centerbar to the receiver part itself.

it aint going anywhere.

best part? it trusses up the frame up front too...

Thats looks really good! I was thinking of making a mount pretty much just like that one but I was wondering if having the mount there and with the winch on does it get hit on alot of things? Do you have anyother problems?
Thanks

yeah, the winch is a nice bump stop... lol.

at least i can remove it or get off by butt and make an extension tube that points the winch upwards...

My father has one and he loves it. He ran an extra set of leads to the rear too. He stores it in the bed where he bolted a receiver tube. He uses it on his other rig (POS full sized Bronco) and his car hauler trailer too - he made up some extension cables for it.

i made a set of 25' 1/0 gauge cables with the quick connect connectors that can handle up to 300 amps...

so theoretically, i can remove the main batt connectors from my truck and quickly bolt them on another vehicle and then run the 25' leads to pull me out of anything...

I loved mine-- I actually still use it but its on our Buggy instead of my old Taco. I made the bumper specifically for the our multi mount so that it sat up really high. I could take it out , and put in a feild goal type of rack , and then carry 20ft sections of steel. Oh , and on the buggy it hooks up front or rear!
Richard

PS- we dont make this anymore.....only picture I could find quickly.
