Mounting Turn Siginals in the Marker Lights?

I want to Mount my Turn Siginals in the Marker Lights. I'm looking for the How-To. Yes, I searched but I didn't find anything. There is only one page in the electrical how-to now. What happened? It looks like alot of thread pages have disapeared. Anyway back to my question. Does anyone have the How-To?

I recently did this for my 4runner. When I installed my new bumper.

When i did mine, i basically went down to autozone and and got some bulbs and bulb housings. When pulled out my marker lights, pulled out the drain hole drilled a hole the size of the new bulb housing. Siliconed the new housing in with the new bulb, so i can remove it easily. Then cut the old turn signal lines and attached them to the bulb housing.

One thing i learned is that you need a higher watt bulb, in your new turn signal bulb. I started off with a 4 watt bulb, and and my turn signals would flash really fast like one of them was out, but it all worked. I am now using 18watt bulbs and everything works great.

Thanks for the info. That is pretty much what I figured.

Crolison, Your bumper has inspired me to build myself one. Somewhat like yours. That is why I need to move my turn siginals. I think I'm going to fab up some mounts for my stock fogs.

Thanks man, the last thing I did on my bumper was the turn signals, drove around one day with the old ones taped on, and the next day when the paint was drying on the bumper, i straight up drove with no bumper on at all. Good luck in your endeavor, i just hope it doesn't take as long as mine did (2months).

That would be cool to use your stock fog lamps. I think i am going to get some small 3ish" round fog lights, and put them in the speed holes on the bottom.

another way would be to simply switch around the wiring for the corner lights/bumper lights each becoming the other.

I may try the link way though it looks pretty sweet...
aviator

edit: on further review there may be another way... I'll rsearch and post back

If you do it that way your going to have to get a higher wattage wedge base buld, which i found some philips landscape bulbs at lowes that work great.

I will pop out one of my markers and get some pics and post them up here tomorrow.

I did a little more thinking on this mod and the 1157 bulb would be HUGE inside the corner housing, it would probably be better to use one of those 1157 LED set-ups if you do this mod. Longer lasting too ...
I'm still thinking on a better way to do this...

edit: thanks crolison and elton

yeah i do, originally we had them at the bottom and when you used the turn signal everything would work, but it would flash really fast. So we tried switching to use the running lights, then they still flashed really fast. So it took a higher watt bulb to have enough resistance to stop the fast flashing.
