I got a 3.4 motor thats been sitting for who knows how long. at least 2 years. suppose to have been started since then though.

There is low compression in all 6 cylinders. 110 at the highest and 20-40 At the lowest. Sounds like rings are stuck because you can hear the air going out the bottom past the rings on all cylinders.

You've got nothing to lose at this point. Pull the plugs and fog each cylinder with WD40 and see if the rings will free up. maybe some fresh oil before firing it up. WHat are your plans for truck?

ya done the wd40 thing a few times. The motors out of the 4 runner though. its goin in my truck

Yea if penetrating oil over a 24-48 hour period does not free up the rings i would suggest the engine be repaired/rebuilt.

Sure its even in the rings? And the timing belt is not broken? 20-40 psi is extremely low for a 3.4....

I think if i remember right the 3.4 is a pretty high compression engine and i think normal compression is a little over 200 psi..

I would look at the engine timing.. i suspect timing belt failure...

Check the timing first, and try to do a leak down test. If all else fails try sealing the cylinder's off with a airgun and try to pressurize them. That should give you an idea of where your compression might be escaping. If it is indeed rings try mixing diesel, atf, and Marvel mystery oil. I have unsiezed engines that way a few times and it works pretty darn well. It may take a while though.

X3 on the WD40! Spray the piss a lot in the SP holes and let them sit. You can use Marvel Mistery oil as well it works great. Then before you start it pour some marvel in the oil works great at lubeing up the top of the heads.

Its for sure the rings. I can hear the air going into the crankcase. Timing belt is in one piece. I might try the marvel thing. The motor only has 90,000 miles on it. It caint be to bad off.

get a couple table spoons of marvel in there and let it sit for a couple days. Rotate the crank every day for a couple minutes to make sure its getting into the rings. normal compression should be around 175-190

That marvel is kinda working. One cylinder is good. Now got 5 more to go. Im goin in from the bottom on these others. Maybe thatll work.
