Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge
I have an '03 Tacoma Prerunner with the 2.7 motor. I would like to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge that is not a factory item. Have any of you out there done this?
If so, what part/brand did you use, and where did you run the oil line connection on the motor?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

ive done this to my v6 motor. i dont know if it will be the same but near you oil filter there should be at least 2 extra ports with plugs in them. i used the autometer oil gauge and that comes with everything that you need. in my case the fitting was too small so i went to home depot and bought another fitting the next size bigger. just run the cappillary line from the fittings to the guage and your set.
if i had to do it all over i would use an electrical gauge since i dont want any fluids running into my cab

Hey, thanks for the reply. I have seen the spot you mentioned, but did not know that is was an option.
Where did you put your gauge and how big of one did you buy? I would like to install mine just to the right of the ECT power button on the flat area of the dash.
Thanks again.

i have a sensor now that is hooked up to something... its my oil pressure light for the dash, however, since the engine swap, i have never seen it on.. the dash light comes on occasionally at startup... but even if i disconnect it nothing happens... can i just disconect it and run an aftermarket guage? at least something i know is working.....

I have had bad luck with electrical oil gauges in the past, so I will install the mechanical style to be sure all is well.

i saw an apc oil pressure guage at kragens... im not really into apc products, however i was looking at it, and it has its own sender unit... if the threads match, could i remove my current sensor and just put it in there? and mount a guage in a pod on my pillar?

thats currently where my sending unit is too, and its hooked up... but the light never is on except with acc on and not started..... when i start it, it is never on, even if i disconnect the sensor..... so i dont think it matters and would rather have a real guage anywyas... might eliminate my whole dash.... the only things on it are fuel, and temp that i use anyways.. but i wnat to install a real temp guage as well.. the speedo doesnt work, nor the odo, and im putting in a gps so i will know my speed....
