Maybe a stupid question about Engine swaps?
I've heard some minor discussion concerning engine swaps into older pickups (say 3rd gen P/U/2nd gen 4runner). Some have discussed the 4.0 V6 swap and the minor ramblings I've heard suggest that it can't be done? Yet if the 4.0 swap can't be done (or is it in the stage of being tried at least) into these pickups with the cramped engine bay, why are guys regularly putting 350 Chevy's into them? Sorry - enlighten me...please...

It ain't the space - it's the bolting it up to the transmission or tranfer case that you can't do as I understand ti. You also can't use the whole thing (engine, trans, case) because it puts the front driveshaft on the wrong side. This swap may be possible, but it's not gonna be easy.
A small block chevy or ford on the other hand fits fine and there are adapters and misc bits available to make it easy.
Use the search feature and you can read for days on the various swaps and how they go. (Chev, Ford, Buick V8, Chev, Buick V6, Supra motors, Lexus V8s, Dodge 5.2, others...)
