Master Control Switch Doesn't Work for Pass. Window BUT Pass Window Switch Works
(as mentioned before. i was given this truck after my dad got an 06 4runner)
-The passenger window switch controls the window up and down with no problems. The window can't be controlled by the driver side master control unit.
-the passenger swtich on the MCU feels different (tried to get the best description and all i could come up with was - lighter and sfoter).
-i've pulled out the switch unit (wiring allows it with ease). and tried to tack of the panel to clean/inspect but in the process broke 1 tab. so i figured i'd see what the board has on thoughts before i go back in this weekend.
I have found these two threads:

*96 4runner limited

Sounds like the pass control switch in the MCU is bad to me. Very easy fix, however, depending on the year, some of those switches only fit certain years.
It spreads like this:
1. 96-97 only
2. 98 ONLY
3. 99-02 only
depending on your year, they used any one of those.

got it. I have a 96 so will do some looking.
easy in the sense of pop out MCU, unscrew and remove back (try not to break tabs this time), swap switch and reverse?

Yea, it really is that easy. Pop the cover off from the front, switch the panels, and viola! Its that easy. Since you have a 96, you will need a switch from a 96 or 97. They used a wider lock button and a different wiring configuration those years.

So far I have found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...QQcmdZViewItem
and other prices for a switch are in the $50+ range online. I haven't had a chance to hit the local yards in Brooklyn to find one but I am thinking that if I see a switch for $50 and a full MCU for around the same price on EBAY:
A) option 1
B) option 2
C) Option 3
D) Option 4
E) Switch Doctor
