MAF swap

Does anyone have any info on swapping the MAF on my 99 4runner 3.4L with one from a non-turbo supra? I read about a guy doing this but he has a supercharged 4runner. I did some mods to my intake and thought it might be a good idea to swap out my MAF with a better one. Also how about those in cab electric ones?

Midiwall is the one that did it, i think someone bumped his thread a few days ago actually.

I know that on my 00 4runner there is no reason to switch the MAF as the on in mine is just a thing that sticks into the intake tube and get the reading. not a piece of the intake like the older style. o sure if the 99 is the old or new one though.

The one midiwall uses is from a 93-98 Twin turbo.

Can a 98 3.4 MAF be converted to the newer 00 model MAF? The one on my 98 looks to be very restrictive.

How did you know what wires to move around? I Swapped out the factory 1 piece 1998 Vane style for a 1999 replacable style with an Air Raid intake kit. The Truck started instanly maybe 1 crank, but ZERO throttle response. Went back to factory stock, open up front of stock air box w/ 6" hole and installed an Air Raid replacement filter. Truck runs great takes 4-5 cranks to fire.

1998 4x4 Limited Ext. Cab
3.4v6
5 speed
31x10.50
Not so chrome brush bar...Never buy chrome again
Stainless Nerf Bars
78,000 miles
used to get 20mpg...now 16mpg... truck is in excellent shape, excellent tune, why the drop in milage, Mileage dropped over a couple of years..Injectors?
