Lotek gauge pod install question

First off I'll say yes I did search and couldn't find the answer.

Do you put the gauge pod OVER the current trim piece or do you remove the current trim piece and put on the gauge pod and the cut the old trim piece to mate up at the top with the gauge pod ??

mine fits right over the factory piece of trim.

I dont have a lotek (I have the TRD pod), but all gauge pods I have seen fit over the existing trim.
