Looking at buying a 98 Taco

As it says...I'm looking at buying a 1998 Tacoma 4cyl 5spd bare bones truck. Reg cab, power nothing. Any comments about this year truck? Any mod ideas?

Try to get the 2.7L 3rz and not the 2.4L 2rz.

4x4, Prerunner, or mini? If 4x4, manual hubs are more desirable on this truck, especially if you intend to lift it.
I've got a 2000 x-cab V6 auto. It's pretty much totally different from the aforementioned truck, but, being 6'6", I love the room that the x-cab provides. The V6 has plenty of power, but the fuel economy and shear durabilty of the 2.7 is hard to beat (not to mention, you might be able to find a charger for it still).
As far as the lack of powered goods, well, my truck is the same in that way. It's nice not to need a key to lower your windows.
All in all, it really depends on what the intended use of this truck will be. What's the specs, price, and location?

Yes...I'm sorry...it is a 2.7L 4x4 with manual hubs....I have pros and cons about the ADD on my current 90 4Runner but I miss having the option of whether I want my hubs locked or unlocked....and now that you mention it DWB....I think I saw a post somewhere before in the forums about a 2.7L SC for sale for like $300...and that was with everything.....I'll post some pics when I can

Haha, I just found that out today on my 99 prerunner.

I thing on the 98 on up to 00 at least they switched back to manual hubs rather than the autos from 95-97, I just read that somewhere. I am guessing that with around 100k miles you will pay in the range of 8000 more or less. The 98 have much beter lights.
