A little help please?
I bought an OEM bug deflector today from my local stealer and the instructions tell you to clean part of the hood with 3M Prep Solven -70. Never heard of it! Where can I get it or can I use something else instead? My son says just use rubbing alcohol but would that damage the clear coat? I want get the thing on 'cause I am going on vacation on Saturday down south where there are lots of bugs!
Thanks,
Jim

I've never heard of rubbing alcohol damaging clear coat, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. You're basically just trying to remove the wax on the paint so it adheres better.

Herd72,
You should read this thread https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...=bug+deflector before you do anything.

That or...
Yeah rubbing alcohol, 70% solution will work fine, just don't scrub with steel wool, haha. I used acetone (nail-polish remover) to do my ventshades. Trust me, it sticks!

Thanks for all the help.
I will try to be extra careful and go ahead and put on the OEM deflector and watch closely for the clearance on the screws. I think I can figure it out and will go slow. PS great idea about tying the thread to the small parts. Will come in handy for all kinds of stuff.
