Leaking Shocks or Lying Mechanic?

After seeing responses to this thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/shocks-leaking-46k-40519/ I've been thinking maybe I've been duped. Strange thing: on my work order they had written the totally wrong mileage. When I pointed it out, they said, "oh, yeah, let me fix that" but I still was like, "were they even looking at MY truck?" I suppose it's possible they mixed me up with someone else. They also told me my tires were showing wear indicating I need at alignment check, but I had them rotated about 4k miles ago. Is that normal? At the last checkup, they were fine. Also, I assume if my shocks really ARE leaking, I would see fluid on the ground where I park? Should I stick some cardboard under the car to see if they really are losing fluid, or would that not be a good indicator?

I obviously am a total car newbie, but so far y'all have been VERY helpful and cool - so thanks!

shocks don't usually leak enough oil for it to drip on the ground, so they may be right there, but i would go look at your tires to see if they look ok, run your hand across the tread, if the tread is raised in some places then you probably have an alignment issue, if they are smooth and don't look like they are wearing funny, don't worry about the alignment

I'd also add that if you're not comfortable with the shop you're visiting, take it somewhere else.
