leaf spring help

leaf spring help
ive searched... .i have a 97 tacoma 4x4 and the guy at the junkyard saiid only 96 and 97 interchange....i dont havge much money and need leaf springs because my drivers side has a broken leaf....anyone know of anything else that interchanges?

yea he printed out a paper and it said only 96 and 97 and no junkyards around here have anything that new lol i would think just about any 4x4 springs would fit as long at the same lenght and toyota

Its strange. I checked an aftermarket leaf spring application chart and it listed their springs as suitable for only 98-04 Tacomas. Yet Toyota lists the same part numbers for OEM springs for all the years.....
Leaf springs will not fit just about any 4x4. There are too many variables. (eye-eye length, individual leaf lengths, eye diameter, number of leafs, thickness of leafs, width of leafs, free camber measurement, single stage/double stage, center bolt size and orientation and location, leaf cut, clips and spacers....blah blah....) All these variables affect the vehicle performance.

i was just under there looking and it has 3leafs then the thick leaf(over load leaf i think it is)but its the bottom of the 3..... good news on the other hand is my spare tire is brand new and holder wasnt froze up by rust it worked lol and i think my p0420 might not be the cat or o2 i think i got a manifold leak

I think I already told you about Alcan custom springs, if you can't afford Alcans, I'd go to a local truck suspension shop and get them to make you a replacement. Be carefull driving around with a broken leaf, the leaf pack is all that holds your rear axle on.

I have a 78 Toyota an im slowly turning it into a 4wd but 1st i wana convert the rear leafs from spring under to spring over. What the cheaps way i can do that. Im a mechanic but i still learning alot.
