Larger gas tank?

Why oh why did Toyota use a 15 gallon tank in a 6 cyl SUV? Are there any aftermarket replacement 20-22 gallon tanks available? I read some of the posts about aux tanks, but thats not what I am after. I dont want an aux tank, I just want to be able to carry 20 gallons of gas. Heck, I have run my Jeep YJ dry a couple times and can get about 21 gallons in there.

Hmm, I was looking on google, and it appears that it could be an 18 gallon tank. I have never run it dry, but when it gets near E, I only put about 15 gallons in. Were there multiple tank options?

simply put, there are no larger tanks available for a 4runner. you do have an 18-gallon tank, so next time the gas light comes on, fill up immediately and see how much you can put in. calculate your gas mileage using your miles driven as indicated by the odometer and the amount of fuel used indicated by the gas pump. if you got 300 miles on 15 gallons, then you get 20 MPG and you know that when the light comes on, you have 60 miles to go before you run out.
