KP Gasket Kit Review/Info
Normally on the 89-95 forum, but going to be helping a friend rebuild his 5VZ. Wondering if any of you have any info on KP Gaskets? They are made in Japan and sold at Yotashop.com.

Personally I'm an OEM/Dealer parts guys, but he's looking to save some money. For $380 he can get the KP kit which also includes the 12 head bolts and knock sensor wire (oem). Maybe save about +/- $100...over dealer parts.
Thanks,
Grego

I have this kit and am rebuilding the engine right now - hopefully it will be running this weekend.
Its got a lot of parts, all look decent enough quality. The head gaskets are graphite though and I believe everyone moved on to mls. I'll have to see if this is an issue later on. I bought the timing kit too with the water pump and idlers. I wished it had come with a new crank bolt. I am going to reuse mine with some blue thread lock - same for the cam bolts.
There was something missing from the kit but I cant remember what it was. Its not in any pictures so the kit comes this way and it isnt a shipping error. It was a gasket or something. Oh yeah, it was an o-ring for the coolant pipe that goes under the intake manifold. I used fipg to seal it. The last thing I wished it included was a set of head bolt washers. I lost one and was lucky enough that the machine shop that did the work on my engine had a few spare they gave me.
I ended up with a $613 bill for the full head kit, timing kit, an extra exhaust stud and exhaust gasket, including shipping.

Yours didn't come with head bolts? The kit I linked to included the engine gasket kit, head bolts, and oem knock sensor wire.
I couldn't tell in the pic, but did this kit come with a rear main seal?
Lame about missing that o-ring, such a small thing. I guess having to get that from the dealer isn't too bad.

Update: I've been fighting fuel injector leaks each night this week. Chasing them around every injector, ones that weren't leaking started dribbling then spraying. Turns out the O rings are ever so slightly to large. I replaced them with the originals and no more leaks. I will talk to yotashop tomorrow and let them know what I discovered.

Thanks for that update, kind of you to give your experience on this. With this being the only thread on this gasket set I'm sure it will help others in the future.
