I know that toyota touch up paint brushes suck and most of of time they end up looking like a paint bird crapped on it. What do you guys use? best method? experience? any comments welcome.

I have an airbrush sittin at home, maybe I should try to use it this time(mask$paint)...
touch up paint does an ok job as far as scars not showing about 2 feet away but I think there should be a better way.

If you want to be a bit more controlled on the touch-up application try using a paper match from a matchbook. Use the end that tears away from the book (obviously). If you want something a bit narrower than that, use a razor blade to cut off part of that end. Don't try dipping the match into the bottle...it will get too goopy like the brush usually is. Pour a bit into a water bottle cap (what I use) and dab the match into the paint to control the amount.

Use a paper match stick. Carefully dab paint in the chip. Let dry, repeat. Keep at it until the touch up is level or above the body paint. Wet sand carefully with 1000 grit to get it level, then 1500 grit, then hit it with a buffer and some compound. It will just about disappear, nearly perfect. Sometimes... (Metallic paints are very hard to make match, but at least it won't be a divot when you're done.)

Or just go to Artist Supply Shop and get a good brush, they have all sizes. The bristles that are cut off squarely do a great job. The brush I used was probably 1/8 to 3/16" wide. Dip the brush into the paint container, then wipe off excess onto a piece of paper, then brush onto the spot. After several applications, you will have the paint up to the level of original, then buff as needed. Try it, and give up the matches.

I've used eletrical tape and carefully traced around the scratch. After that was on securely I was free for liberal use of paintbrush. Let dry and the tape comes off easily.

Neat thing about the match: You don't have to buy it, you don't have to clean it, (so you don't have to buy cleaning materials,) and it works.
