knock sensor/timing belt
Hello,I just bought a '91' 4x4 x-cab and it leaked oil from the valve covers.I knew this before buying and figured it would be no problem.I took it to an ASE certified mechanic and he did the job but it took three days due to another hose that cracked and could only get at the dealer. The third day he calls and tells me the truck is running poorly and the check engine light is on.I dont know if he did anything to it because I only had it a week and in that time the light never came on.Anyway,I did the self diagnosis and the code is 52.It figures it is either the knock sensor or the wire.I have an '88' V-6 and did this job before and hated it but it came out right so I decided I am goingto do the work myself in order to save money and not get possibly robbed again. The question I have is does the #2 idler bearing bolt to the intake manifold and do I have to remove the timing belt?I dont remember if it does or does'nt.Also, what's the easiest way to pull the vibration damper?I really appreciate any help and if anyone is in the San Fernando Valley and can cut me a deal on work,I would appreciate any offers.
