K & N FIPK on 2nd Gen (pics)

Corey (metal22lica) asked me for some pics of the FIPK last night in chat. I didn't know who else might be interested in what this contraption looks like, so I thought a thread was in order.

Excuse the grime

Positives:
More power
More aggressive sound
Better gas mileage
Frees up some under hood space

Negatives:
Could suck water/mud if it gets submerged
Sucks hot air from the engine compartment
(I'm making a shield to protect it from both of these a little)
Gurgling sound at idle.

Perceived negatives:
The K&N lets dirt into your intake (I just cleaned my TB for the first time ever, it was pretty clean)

That's it in a nutshell.

that FIPK was like the first thing i ever did to my car besides my stereo, and i think it made the engine alot more lively. the gas peddle seemed to have more response and it sounds great above 3000RPM

AFM stays. What's funny is the size of the AFM orifice (hehe) is not even like 4 square inches then there's this freakishly huge filter.

Thanks about the avatar. I was messing with my new digital and took a few shots after giving the :pig: a bath.

Looks good. The only other negative that I could see is the drain hose for the coolant overflow bottle. It looks like if you overheated the overflow hose would blow coolant onto the air filter. Maybe you should extend the hose below the filter. Just my $.02

Wow, that looks familiar!

My boss at work started using this paneling from a furnace (home depot) to hold up our zip code charts, it looks like it could be used as a cheap divider to keep out the elements. I'm going to start on it this weekend if I happen to get all my homework done and have some free time.
