just throwing some ideas

just throwing some ideas around on what i want to do to my truck. ok here goes its a 1998 tacoma 5 speed 4x4 v6 sr5. i plan on doing the full ome lift, some 31x10.5x15 super swampers and an arb in the rear how competent would that be off road. should i do that or do 33s and regear the front and rear and instead of the arb put a eaton lsd in the rear beacuase of cost

but i got a five speed thats got burnt clutch and 14mpg written all over it i mean i really want to do the 33s but ive been saving for a while and have enough now to get a limited slip in the rear and regear both front and rear for 33s or i can just do the arb for the rear and run that with some grippy tires

Throw a elocker in the rear equiped with 4.88's. Regear up front with an Aussie or TruTrac, throw 33's under it and call it good.

If you're on a budget, do the OME lift, add some 33's (find a set used) and put a Lock Rite in the rear axle (you can do it yourself). While the ARB air lockers are nice (and yes, I really would love to have them), they are very spendy and most people can live with a Lock Rite.

What width 33's? I know on earlier trucks you can get 33x10.50's in with no lift. Worst case scenario, go with a small body lift (> $100) to clear room for the 33's. Source a E-Locker with stock 4.88's in it (250-300 possibly), look for a stock 7.5" front IFS diff with 4.88's (200.00 junkyard) and a lockrite or aussie or whatever you want in front.
