I may be the first on the forum. I know others have painted their 5-spoke limited's but i didnt have that option and didnt want to buy new rims.

So my weekend project:
-Paint brother's wheels
-Decided to paint my wheels too
-crank coilovers a couple more turns
-add 1/4" wheel spacers in front from wheelers
-add poly swaybar bushings
-paint frame

I would go for the headlights next.....use black spray paint and black them COMPLETELY out..like 3 or 4 coats...so NO light can get through at all....that would be hella baller

too shiny imo itwould look better semi gloss but it still looks pretty badass

next year i think i'm going to re-do my old wheels for a winter set, i'd like to know what product(s) you used to get such great results.

Ya, i dunno why the hell it came out so shiny, i followed the exact same steps to paint mine as my bro's and mine came out twice as shiny as his, after i was done I was like "WTF....oh well"

I pulled the wheels off TRIED to tape em off but none of my tape would stick so i said "F it" and just painted the wheels with the tires on still, i"ll be peeling that paint off later. Oh ya i did sand em, it was really annoying and tedious but had to do right, then i used 2 coats of rust-o-leum auto primer, and 3 coats rust-o-leum black paint of some sort...worked well IMO

thanks osker, the wheels really do look nice. i used the duplicolor products last time and was VERY disappointed, i'll have to give rustoleum a try. by next spring i'll have to ask you how the paint has held up, although you don't have to endure the harsh cold temps and salty roads like we do in iowa, that was when the duplicolor failed immediately for me. the local powdercoater wants an arm and a leg for each wheel so that's out of the question i'll get back to you about the durability of the rustoleum and see what you think of it in a few months.
