Jiffy Lube...Gumout Fuel System Cleaner?
Anyone done this before, and how des it compare to the Motorvac fuel system carbon depletion service?

I will be willing to bet it is just something that they add to the tank. You could buy something better at a autoparts store or from amsoil..
The only one that I have seen that works is the ford fuel system cleaner. It hooks into your fuel rail (because the cleaner will eat away your tank) and you run the engine off of the machine for 15 minutes.

It's three parts:
1) Additive is added to the tank of gas
2) Throttle body cleaner is sprayed through intake tube and throttle body
3) Another cleaner is added as you mention that cleans the carbon out of the engine, which causes a lot of smoke to exit the exhaust.
This sounds identical to the Motorvac system to me, and it's cheaper.

Ok I see. When I worked at Firestone, we used the same thing make by wynns.
The throttle body you can do yourself as well as the fuel tank additive. The "carbon deposit" cleaner is just a bottle that they hook up to the vacuum line on the master brake booster. If you can find a place to order it, you will be able to do it yourself cheaper...

On the master brake booster (behind where you put the brake fluid) you will see a big vacuum line. If you take it off the truck will run very rough. You hook it to that line and it will suck it in. I believe that people do this with water and transmission fluid to clean out their engine. I personally wouldn't use those...

Be very very very careful about using your vaccum hose to pull any type of fluid into the engine.
It has been discussed here before, and you can destroy your engine if you get too much fluid into any cylinder and cause it to hydrolock.
I would use a smaller vaccum line, or dont do it at all.
