Are the power gains from the ISR mod worth the extra noise? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that things are really, really loud during acceleration with the silencer removed. Has anyone done any dynos on this mod, or is it just seat of the pants feeling at this point? Thanks. Later.

Well the ISR was the last mod I did, and although I am going by the "seat of my pants" I know for a fact that the throttle response imprved dramatically. As for HP and torque, again it is not tested, but listen to this. When I got mine done, I thought I'd try it out so I hit the gas full throttle, and guess what -- my rear wheels lost traction! They never did that before, and although it isn't concrete evidence, it was enough to convince me. The ECU has adjusted some since then. I also have the deck plate mod, Amsoil, and a Jardine exhaust system so there was more boost behind that, but before the ISR, even with the other mods my rear wheels wouldn't spin. Think what you like, but I'm convinced!

Just how loud is it? Is it really, really loud or just noticeably louder than the deckplate by itself? If it will provide solid results then I would like to do it, but I also don't want the noise to be unbearable inside the truck during hard acceleration.

Heehee, it's hard to say. My exhaust is so loud I can't hear any engine noise under even minimal acceeration. I did only the deck plate before the exhaust and the noise was quieter at idle, louder under acceleation, and quieter at constant speed, but I can't vouch for the ISR. I doubt Dr. Z could either, hehe (he has the same exhaust as I do). Sorry, can't help ya much here.

I did the ISR mod, I actually wrote up a little review about it too. Titled "Dr Z MOD", I think. Anyways, to answer you question, when I first preformed the mod, the noise is a little annoying when you ECU is re-learning your new setup. The engine will rev a lot longer until it shifts into a higher gear. This goes for about a week (300-500 miles). But now, it is only really loud if you gun it. I have a stock exhaust.

One thing about the ISR mod is that it's cheap to do if you use plumbing caps, and because you used plumbing caps, it's VERY easy to put back if you don't like it.

I'd suggest trying it out. I don't find it all that loud... Though I tend to drive with the tunes a bit loud.
