Iowa Drivers: Advice Please

Folks - I know someone that may be relocating to Iowa (Cedar Rapids area)...just curious as to any particular truck configuration issues he may need to be aware of (bumper height, stuff like that...).

Anyone have any input? Where could he get more information on state regs?

Thanks!

living in cedar rapids for the last 30 years, 14 of which i've been driving, i have had no problems or heard of any like what you mention. it's always good to check the local laws so read up on the link provided above. but, to put your mind (or your friend's mind) at ease, i've seen some truely monster trucks around really jacked up, lifted, with all kinds of crazyness front to back driving around without a problem. i saw an 80s chevy truck drive in the dealership lot i work at yesterday that had at least 2-3 feet between pavement and bumper, talked to him a little bit and he never mentioned any problems with police. unless something is hanging off of your car/truck and is a clear safety issue, i think the cops leave you alone. but, if you have blue LEDs, graphics, and a bumpin' system, and are in the 16-22 year old range you'll have trouble. but it doesn't sound like that's the scene your friend is in.

does he have a 4runner or tacoma? it will be nice to have some company around town

Patrick - Thanks for the feedback. I will keep you in the loop. He has a 4Runner with a few inches of lift and aftermarket bumpers - larger tires. Nothing crazy, but it definitely stands out.
