Interesting Alternator Hapenstance...
Here's the story (86 22r),
Yesterday I go to start the truck, first try, nada, second try, it goes fine, but the charge and brake lights stay on.
So, OK, the alternator brushes need replacing (this alternator is one that came with the newer engine I have).
I do the things I need to do that day (including ordering new brushed from the dealor) and go home and park it.
Today, after it stopped raining, I pull my alternator (PITA with power steering) and replace it with my origional one.
What's interesting is all day yesterday the engine was idling high probably about 1500rpm (warm), after I replace the alt. it drops back down to normal.
Is this the motor trying to keep up the current flow with the worn brushes?
Anyway, at least it's fixed, and my other alt. will be getting fixed too.
Sorry for the long post :-)
