Installing Hitch have questions....
I have a hitch that I got off of ebay and the place where i got it took off the sides for easier shipping. To install the hitch do i need to put it together first, or can i put one side on bolt it up and add the middle then add the other side...thanks in advance

I have no idea, but it probably doesn't matter. However, if you must drill into the frame, I would definitely assemble it first, you wouldn't want to get your measurements wrong.

Please make sure the bolts are grade 8. Grade 5 bolts are not strong enough to endure towing.
I would put it together first, but don't tighten the bolts and nuts all they way.

If it's a bolt on, no drilling, then bolt up the pieces 1 at a time...but leave it loose so everything still fits together easily. Once it's all together then tighten everything down to specs. Otherwise, you're either in for a workout or it's a 2 person job.

I just installed a new 3 piece hitch on my '90 this weekend and ran into the same problem. Definetly take it apart before you go through the hastle of trying to muscle it in youself or even with a buddy. My side pieces were shaped in such a way that you needed to slide them in from the bottom to the top at an angle. It would have been very tricky to do this with it assembled. Plus as others have stated in this post it will be easier to leave all the bolts loose until you are ready to button it all up.:pat:
