installing flares 85 4runner

I'm planning on buying a 85 runner w/4" lift. It has rust on the rear wheel wells within an inch of the rim(edge). The rust is deep and I'm thinking that it will need to be cut out. If I install flares do I need to cut out some of the well anyway? Thanks, rj

Take a look at the BUshwacker "Cut out" flares. My understanding is that these REQUIRE cutting of the fender to fit properly. I was thinking the same thing when I was looking an 85 Runner that had some rust on the fender edges. Check them here.

I was looking at the Bushwacker "Cut-out" flares before actually going with the "extend-a-fender" flares. I was told by the guys at Central 4WD that some applications such as the 89-95 pickups do NOT require cutting at all. I was confused and decided to go with the ones I got instead.
