Ideas for the silencer box removal on a 2nd gen
alright guys...I'm asking for more help. I've been doing different mods to the 4runner the past couple of months. I switched to aisin hubs and a couple of other things. Well, I decided to do the intake silencer box removal that's in the tech articles. I've got it all removed, but can't find the little brass 90 degree elbows. If someone can help me with this that would be great....I'm up for anything that can take the place of those little guys also. I tried to pm the guy that wrote it, but he never responded. I hope you guys can help....thanks

man....I understand now why he hasn't pm back. sorry, I must've missed that thread. I tried home depot and lowes....neither of them carry elbows like that because they say that those are mainly used in hydraulics and they don't deal in hydraulics. I thought plumbing shops might have them so I checked at a few here and some auto shops, but I found nothing. thanks for the thoughts.......

Order 'em
Hey- I just did that mod on my truck today- I was going to post pics but a storm came and the lights went out. Anyway, I couldn't find them anywhere in Lafayette, so I ordered here
http://www.hoseandfittings.com/catal...&DEPT=0.93.213
They came in today and they were cheap- I brazed them on the pipe b/c I couldn't get the washers to do right- I'll post pics tomorrow- good luck.

The ones I have are screw together. I'm plan (now, thanks to your post in the other thread) to solder them tight or get some RTV to seal them up.

My ISR Mod
OK, here's mine- I used a 1/2 90 Hose barb to Male pipe for PCV and a 3/8 90 Hose barb to male pipe for the other- You could probably build one at Lowe's with elbows, nipples, nuts, etc...(If I can find my receipt, I'll post the part numbers from the website) The Lowe's where I live was too disorganized and no other plumbing or hydraulic fitter had it. I ordered these, turned the acetylene up, and brazed them on there.
Sorry for bad focus- JB Weld would probably work on this.
Note- I had to get the torch very hot and rough up the muffler pipe around the holes with the grinder before getting a good solder.
Here's the finished product. Thanks Corey and UKMeyers for the write ups and support.

hmmm
so here is what i wanna know... does it really make all that noticeable of a difference? About how much did it all cost? What is the pipe made out of and where would i go to get one? oh, 1 more thing, does it mess with the emissions or anything like that?

I'm still not done- I'm going to put a couple of holes in the air box that I can plug if I want to. So far- $10 for pipe from local muffler shop, $5 for fittings and shipping, $5 for 3"ID hose. It's louder when you stand outside and rev it, I can barely hear it while driving. Does not mess up emissions or ECU to my knowledge. I'll try to do a write up tonight.
