I was wondering...
...about what to do to waterproof my floors.
I though about rhino lining or something like that but I don't like the look of the floor without carpet. It has ugly ribs in the metal for support and I really think it would look unprofessional to put liner on. So then I thought some sort of mat. But that doesn't protect the metal from rust. So...
Is there a material that could be sprayed/molded on or whatever that would fill in the gaps and bumps of the floor to leave a sealed, protected, smooth, flat finish on the floor? Kind of like having carpet, but totally water proof.
Something that would fill in the gaps like this...
I thought maybe if you apply like 40 coats of liner than maybe, but there must be something better. It doesn't have to be as strong as liner because only shoes would put wear on it. Some cush wouldn't be that bad either. Thanks for the posts...

If you are simply looking to protect the floor from water damage due to saturation of the carpet, then why not just pull your carpet, hit it with the rhino-liner, let it set, then reapply your carpet for aesthetics?
I'm not totaly familiar with Toyotas, but I'm sure with just a little thought and tinkering you could even rig it up so that the carpet could be easily removed for a serious mudding/offroad trip, then all you'd have to do to clean up is hose it out, dry it, then reinstall your carpet.

Maybe try some sound deadening material. When I did my truck, the stuff seemed to melt together nicely and may provide a decent seal as well. The heat gun made it "melt" nice. Get a more quiet cabin and maybe take care of a water problem as well.

Now THATS what im talkin about!
Do you think it is durable enough to walk on without it getting fudged up?
I only used the carpet as an example of a clean flat surface over the various bumps that are under it.
Do you think I should look into glueing foam or rubber down?
Keep the suggestions commin!

It would help to know just what result you are seeking.
Are you loking to seal your floor pan so you can go wading in streams without getting wet***? or ar you simply wanting to rpotect the inner surfaces from corrosion due to moisture entering the cabin?
*** Disclaimer: I realize theres MUCH more to sealing a cabin in such a manner, but the floorpan WOULD be part of the process.

I really want the floor to be easily cleanable, and not to have to worry about it. Plus I sort of figured there would be some sound deadening benifits as well but that's not nearly as important. I was sort of wishing there was a super thick and soft version of rhino liner. (something like that)

Also, if it isn't humid there in the summer, you can leave your windows cracked a little to let the moisture out.
