Does Optima make an aplication for my rig 94 w/22re

I went to their website, and did the search for my pickup, which is a 94 2.4 22re, and it said that there were no applications found. I know somebody here runs an optima in their pickup. If somebody could give me the part number or the specs of the battery I need, I would appriciate it.

As far as I know an optima is an optima. There is a red top (designed for high reving quick discharges for race cars) Yellow top (designed for high amp loads like winch and big stereos this the battery you want) and the blue top wich is a marine battery. Some 4wheeling guys run red tops because they are a little cheaper and thats fine. But I have a Yellow and I have run 6 hellas and a huge stereo (very loud) for about 7 hours one night at a party, and my truck started up no problem. While my buddy has a redtop and his is strong but not as strong. I would just go to an optima dealer and ask for a yellow top. It should cost about 170-180, but some places like pep boys sell cheaper ones they sell refurbished ones ( they told us they didnt, liars) and the red top we bought from them was a pile of crap. I got my yellow from circuit city.

The yellow and blue tops are deep cycle batteries. They are made to be drained and recharged. The red top has more power (cold cranking amps and cranking amps). There are several different models of red tops. I personally use the 800u dual terminal. It is the most powerfull of thier lineup - to the best of my knowledge. I needed to use an optima spacer (free from optima) for a proper fit in my runner. I would imagine the 800u would fit in your 94 just fine with the spacer.

This may be what you're looking for. Says orange top, but really is a red top, go figure.

I'm not sure about the OEM battery group / size on your '94. On Tacos ('95.5+) it's a group 24R (group 24 with reversed terminals). If yours is a 24R like a Taco, the best Red Top fit is a 34R + about 1" to 1.5" of spacing using either a home-fabbed spacer or an Optima 'adapter'.

If you go back to the Optima website, they **do** have a specs page that gives the physical dimensions of all their models. You can use that data to figure out which Optima best approximates your OEM battery sizing.

Yeah I have a pre 95.5 with a optima yellow fits fine just save the packing tray it comes with so that you can use it to properly space the battery in the toy's battery frame.

This is something that is pretty crazy. if you have read the tons of past posts on optima, it seems that everyone with a 3rd Gen had different problems. some needed a spacer, some didn't, some had to extend the cables, some didn't, and a whole combination of those. I think you should just get the spacer that is supposed to come with it (that many didn't get, but some did) just to be safe, and be prepared to extend your battery cables.

The Optima battery in a 3rd gen seems to have a different fit every time!

34R with the spacer from Optima. This will fit without any modifications (i.e. hold down, cables, etc.).

You can adjust the height on your own by cutting plywood to fit under it, then use a sheet of rubber under it to keep it from sliding around. Just make sure the one you get has the terminals +- on the correct side for your truck. I like the blue top because it is deep cycle and has two extra wing nut posts on top for extra goodies. Also the blue has a longer warranty than the yellow for some reason, not that you will likely use the warranty.

Lee, I think you can get it directly from the Optima site... at least that's what I've heard.

Lee,

I ordered my 34R from these guys:

http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/red_top_battery.asp

as I couldn't find the 34R locally.

Call Optima customer service and tell them that you just ordered a 34R and will need the bottom spacer. They'll send it out no charge.

BINGO!

I have the old standard red top and I had to make some spacers and reroute my lines to make it work because the terminals were opposite of my OEM battery. The 34R or so called "orange top" with the included plastic spacer will drop right in no worries...

Which one of your many Toyotas was that in? Was the battery on the driver's or pass side?
