I tried to change my fuel filter today

Well i depressurized the system and got less than a cup of fuel out of the inlet side - but then I couldn't get the outlet side nut to budge. Between the transmission crossmember, torsion bar, transfer case, and frame I couldn't move the 14mm more than a hair and guess what - that is exactly how much slack the fuel line has. End result - no movement of that nut. Well I'll probably pay the stealership for this one. I kick myself over and over thinking about how easy it would have been when the tranny was out for the clutch change

I always just drop BG44K in the tank and notice good improvements so I just did that instead today. I also replaced my radiator hoses, coolant, and belts today but I'll return the fuel filter in the mean time and get a new radiator cap - might as well since everything else is in great shape.

Did you try some form of penetrating oil? I had to use liquid wrench to free up the outlet nut.

Doesn't it just pi$$ you off that you can do the hard stuff like swapping out your clutch, but you can't change a dogone fuel filter?

It will definatley make your crazy. The BG44k looks like its doing its thing very well. I have to run a lot errands today so we'll see how the truck is running by the end of the day.

Trust me...if the filter hasn't been changed in a while, change it. I had mine done last summer and it helped the power and that gas mileage. Take it to Schlep Boy's or even the dealer. It'll cost you a $100 but you won't have to worry about it clogging up on your way to the Northwest.
