I need some fender flare help..

I have a 99 4 runner with the highlader package and it came with some black fender flares and running boards. I want to take the running boards off. The running boards go up part of the front fender. Well I went to the toyotat place today and they said that the flares I have are a dealer installed item and toyota did not make a front mudguard for them. Is this true? I really want to get rid of these running boards. If any one can help let me know. If any one has a extra set of mud guards for the front I would buy them. Thanks for all the help.

That is complete BS. They do make a mudguard that will fill that gap. Go here and call there number on the webpage and tell them your situation and what mud guards you are wanting. They have the ones for the flares that you have, just make sure you explain to them exactly what you want. I don't know the part numbers right off-hand at the moment, but i will see if i can find them. Maybe someone else will chime in with the part numbers

Yeah I was just looking for the same ones. Do a search on Mud guard and you should find what them.
Here is from J.A.'s website http://www.top4runners.com/ja/index.html
look under additions
Front Splash Guards :
Whenever you take your vehicle off road there is a chance of damaging the factory running boards. It takes very little time to remove them. Sometimes I will remove them and when I do I like to install these Toyota Splashguards. They are made to fit the factory SR5 black textured flares I have on my Highlander.

Toyota part numbers:
00547-35966DF (driver side)
00547-35961PF (passenger side)

they are about $35 a pop I think

Those part numbers are correct, but at my dealership they wanted $45 for *EACH* guard. If you go to the website I gave you and give them a call and give them those part numbers they will do the *SET* for around $40. Good luck

i forget the website, but i learned today toyota doesn't make front mud flaps for the limited style flares. in that case, you just gotta get tacoma style front flaps.

Yah this is an old thread, but here's an update. Since I want these mud guards in order to ditch the running boards, someone else might want to also:

Toyota changed the part numbers to:
PT41335966DF - driver's side
PT41335966PF - pass. side

Best price I could find so far was about $55 for the pair from 1sttoyotaparts.com

If you are looking at filling in the area where the running boards covered up, check out what I did. I cut the top portion of the running board flare off and attached it as follows.

I secured it with two of the stock bolts and one small bolt and nut from the under side.
