I hereby declare the Addco sway bar to be...
... one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do on a 3rd gen.
This is my 3rd , 3rd gen and they have all had just a front Addco. I have not tried a rear yet as I want rear articulation and also as my 99 was Supercharged and had an open rear diff, I wanted to keep both wheels planted and not just spin off all the power.
The current one was installed in under an hour which included popping out to Lowes for some grade 8 hardware to replace the captive factory hardware.
I did not bother with the greasable bushings this time as on my 99, they were more trouble than they were worth.
I still find the end links kinda cheesy but a little bird tells me Shaeffer may have something in the works with a heim jointed, bulletproof end link for lifted trucks.
Anyway, 60 min mod that makes even a 98 Limited with shot shocks and soft springs turn in reasonably and allows you take off ramps at greater than walking pace.
A steal at $129 from www.shox.com

A super duper anti-rock'ish bar is coming but none of the parts will work with an Addco sway bar.
Sorry.

If you do not intend to go wheeling, get them both.
Either way, at $129 plus shipping you can afford to try it and sell it on if you don't like it.

I make custom end links...Steve is looking to use his with his 3rd gen lift kit from what I understand.
Do your OEM endlinks still fit now? If so, I can make something a bit taller to accomodate the added height no problem so you can use the Addco swaybar.

ok, this is a cool post as I just ordered Steve's 2.5 Noob-extreme lift (he he) with the rubicon flex joints (can't wait) for my 2000 4Runner. I know that there are disconnects for the front, is there such a thing for the back? What a great post, I was just debating on if the ADDCO's were worth it, and now I think I've been swayed! Thanks!

By the way, 'swayed opinion' is a great pun.

I am working on an off road sway bar. Someday it will be done.

cool. however, SS, I recall you have noticed in the past that 3rd gens with swaybars (front) attached did do fine offroad since with IFS, as I have learned from your posts, the only wheel getting anywhere is the one with the weight on it (stuffed wheel) so having the swaybar attached helps?? So with the new lift I should get disconnects for offroad? hmm. anyway, I'm just excited to get the lift on and get pictures for the Yotatech crowd!

The answer to complicated and drawn out to type out. Call me if you want to hear the explanation.
No don't get disconnects. Get this bar I'm working on.

I'm not gonna get into a pissing contest on here with you, but I'll respectfully disagree with your opinion concerning disconnects. There are a lot of variables and environments so a blanket statement cannot and should not apply.
Anyway...

How about the electrically actuating disconnects with solenoids? Is there somebody out there making them for the 3rd gens? The JDM Isuzu Bighorn (Trooper) and JDM Nissan Patrol are equipped with this one. Just by the push of a button, the stabilizer bars are diconnected.

I am not sure I understand why a disconnected sway bar would negate a Tundra coil setup offroad.
Are swaybar disconnects now old school too? What replaced them?
Onroad hands down the best peformance would obviously come from a thicker sway bar.
