Definitely a gimmick. Looks like a pack of large guage stereo power wire. If you want to do it, just pick up some zero guage power wire and some terminals for a lot less.

import tuner mag has been occasionaly been using the kits on some of there dyno runs and have made gains of 2-5 hp on some of the installs. the kits create a hp by reducing bad grounds for the computer.
yes you could just use multiple grounds to get the same setup.

SCC just tested these on a new Z, which runs the coil on cyl VQ engine. They saw gains of over 5HP at the wheels.

Doesn't sound like a gimmick to me. The key is finding the best ground, which is trial and error.

A buddy of mine put one on his z... he said he could tell a difference. Not sure about our engines though. Don't know how much good it would do. I do agree with what was said though. Just go get some good stereo wire and do it that way.

I have a VERY VERY hard time believeing even 2hp at the rear wheels from that kit. The computer is grounded via it's own harness using what, 16ga wire? Those are merely stinger HPM 4ga wires with clamp on terminals intended for the electrical system not the ECU. Physics here.... the only way to increase power is to make the main shaft spool up faster. This can be done by reducing drag. The only drag on the main shaft electrically is the alternator - so disconnecting the alt would provide a MUCH better gain that this mod would. (however your battery would die relatively quickly...

The only thing it would do is allow better transfer of power from your alt to the battery etc. It WILL make a differnce on any high powered sound systems or will help with a hi output alt, but HP gains? I just dont see that at all. Something like that must be tested on the dyno as people who "feel" a difference are probably experiencing the placebo effect. Just like how the power toilet has proven to reduce power in the 3.4L but people "feel" a power increase - placebo.

Dude go to Barnes and Noble and grab the latest issue of SCC. If that's not enough documentation, I dont know what is. (They may have used a different kit on the Z) but again, the VQ is not that far off in engine design from the 3.4.
