How to tell replacement rad

How can I tell if my radiator has been replaced. I've only had the 4runner for 2 weeks and now at 220,000 miles I have no idea if the radiator has been replaced and want to avoid a milkshake. Maybe someone can look at this pictures and tell if it is stock or a replacement. Thanks.

Mine OEM had density in white letters on the top tank. The best thing to do I think is just take the front skid plate off and take a look at the trans fittings. Mine were corroded pretty bad on the outside.

I don't see any stickers on the rad or any signs that a sticker was removed. The clamps have definitely been off, as you can see the previous indention in the hoses.

the part # you pictured led to an interesting google search results page, including this:
http://www.gasgoo.com/auto-products/...2/1084582.html

which MIGHT suggest you've got a chinese replacement. i don't know if that number appears on all '99 toyota rads though.

From what i'm seeing by looking at 4runners for sale on ebay, is all the rads look like this one and I see a stamped number on them like mine. I do see on some toyota white lettering. I will double check to see if there are any traces of the white lettering on mine. It does seem to be a Denso though from What I'm finding. And I'm guessing Denso is the oem brand. It would be interesting to see pictures of all the failed rads to see if there could be a difference in oem versions.

KOYO was the OEM supplier of radiators for Toyota...not DENSO

It will say KOYO somewhere on the radiator if it was origional

It is OEM; it looked just like the one I pulled out of mine when I replaced it with the Koyo.

I checked the flat spot on the top and I think i can see a little white left from the toyota written on the top. Looks like I will be replacing it soon to avoid a milkshake. I guess it's good news that it hasn't already had a milkshake, but bad that I have to buy a new rad.

my 2000 2.7L 4cyl says toyota on there. It has 196K miles on it. I'm waiting for a replacement even though it's not broken.

If there is nothing wrong with the radiator would it not just be cheaper to put on a transcooler??

That way avoiding any chance of the dreaded milkshake or am I missing something??

If you are worried about it, why don't you just replace it if you have the cash? You'll feel much better about it and you'll do your part to stimulate the economy. maintenance never hurt anything.

Do you smell antifreeze or see any drips or pooling around the plastic caps of the radiator? That's how I knew it was time to replace mine. The biggest thing is you do not want let these engines overheat.

I got my replacement at radiatorbarn.com. It's a very nice quality replacement part with exact fit.
