How Often Do You Guys Redline?
How often do you guys redline your rig? The reason I'm wondering because yesterday afternoon, I wasn't redlining but it was shifting at 4000-5000rpm. At one stop sign, I managed to lose traction on both wheels in my stock Limited 
When I got home though, I felt pretty bad shifting at 4000-5000rpm. You guys think I did any damage or anything?

Naw...You didn't hurt it. Generally don't redline in 1st gear and 5th gear. Firrst gear because it's too easy to over rev, and 5th because I want you around to pay for my social security. All the other gears are fair game. But generally you'll find that the mo' you rap it, the sooner it'll wear out.
I generally shift at about 2500 rpm unless I'm in a hurry.

Maybe I am reading your post wrong. I guess you could be manually shifting the Auto. So, if that is the case, I can offer more reassurance and tell you that I hit the rev-limiter in my 98 Taco LTD 3.4 at least 100 times in 2 years of ownership. Never missed a beat.

EVERY day on my 3.slow. I probably shouldn't considering it has 223,000 miles on it and the tranny. But then again I dont miss a single oil change at 3k miles....
rev limiter? when did yota start incorporating those? My '90 auto doesnt have one....

Or I'd be on the bike you passed and drop it a gear and leave you in my dust... 
Once you've been 165mph, 95 just seems like a nice leisurely cruising speed... Then again the cops usually go like this: 
:pat: Redlining is fine, I wouldn't make a daily habit of it but revving high is good once in a while since it cooks off some of the carbon in the cylinder. Should you make it a regular habit, mainly you will just notice an ungodly amount of fuel consumption...

I hit redline ALL the time in my auto. THere's actually some power lurking up there somewhere....the trans definitely can't make up it's mind when shifting at high RPMs sometimes, but yeah, it's never hurt anything...sounds really cool with the holes in my airbox....I use synthetic fluid and change it every 3k miles, no problems yet!
