how long without urd kit?
i was just wondering realistically, how long i could go without the urd kit. i have the 3.4L trd s/c on my 99 4runner. i have the tmc 1.1, and thats it. no more performance mods, except for a flowmaster 40. i have stock airbox, no isr, no elbow removed, and i use the oem filter.
i know the s/c shouldnt be running without the urd fuel kit, or some type of fuel injector upgrade, but realistically, how much damage am i doing? i would like to get this kit asap, but i dont have the money. its my next thing to do, but i seriously have less than 50 bucks.
i just want to make sure im not serious damage to the engine right now, and how much longer i could last. i have 121k on the odometer, and the s/c was put on around 98k.
this is also a question, with a given, that the 4runner is driven in a gas mileage friendly way, i.e. never getting above 3k on the tach, not wheeling hard, or any of that. just normal street driving.
thanks for any feedback.

If it's true that you never went about 3k RPM's then you'll be fine for a long time to come. You should always have the URD kit, but really, the lean out only happens at WOT and high RPM's. I would say that if you are takin' her easy and run premium gas, you could go on for a long time to come. But get the URD kit ASAP anyways .

you can get a Hayden tranny cooler for about $75---30 min install
t-stat for $10 at Napa===30-40 minutes to pull housing and replace
plugs from URD===not that long either

What alt are you at?
With my experience with the S/C is that it ran like a charm down at sea-level (see vid ), but right when I started to head up the mtn for home it started pinging like a biotch. I got a hayden cheaper at advanced autoparts. $40 comes to mind, but it was a little while ago

well im in south charlotte...no idea what the alt is. rolling hills piedmont...haha i dont know.
well i can do the tranny cooler and t-stat no problem.
austin, do you think youll ever get back into wheeling? hows the r32 working out?...sam, who i bought the runner from, and who you pointed me to, is getting back into it after a break with a wrx. do you see that as your future too? sometimes i think about how itd be different if i had a sports car, but then i get in my friends 95 gst and he drives about a zillion miles per hour (thing is fast as blazes), then i hop in the runner and go through some mud, and im satisfied.
