how do you replace thermostat in 93 V6 4runner?

I am going to try and do that. Is there a writeup on that somewhere on the net or can someone help me do that. I saw the one for 3rd gen with supercharger but I don't have neither of those so I am assuming its easier.

The first thing you need to do is go down to your local auto parts store and buy yourself a manual for your runner. The t-stat is extremely easy to replace. There will be a step-by-step in the manual.

Like already said, it is really easy to do, just can be a little messy with all the coolant that will drain out.

A lot of vehicle thermostats that I have replaced have been at the top radiator hose, but on the 3.0L's, it is where the bottom radiator hose meets the engine block. Drain the radiator, unclamp the bottom radiator house from the thermostat housing, unbolt the thermostat housing, remove the thermostat (pay attention to which way it is oriented), and then reverse the process. Make sure your new thermostat (get an original Toyota one) has the black gasket on it before you install it. Pretty darn easy.

Then, refill with coolant, check for air pockets, and drive that thing.

There is one important part your missing. You must install the thermostat with the jiggle valve at 12 o'clock high. It will be a small valve somewhere on the rim of the thermostat on the side facing you. Slowly run the bolts in while adjusting if you need to sometimes this can be tricky. As stated before you must have a new gasket and properly clean the mounting surface before install. Also tighten bolts to 10-14 ft. lbs. Overtightening will break the ear off the housing and spoil your afternoon - Don't do it. Hope this helps.
