Thanks guy's, what I'm trying to get at is to tap into the exisiting fog lamps wiring and use a new dash mounted switch to turn them off and on....independent of the headlights....if you have a 'soultion' for that I'd be greatly appreciated..

Well, just to that then. Find the relay that controls the fog lights (a factory service manual would be a big help there) and find the wire that turns that relay on and off, the add a wire from there to your switch and then hook the other end of the switch to power or ground as needed (same polarity as the existing switch uses). Depending on what the existing fog light switch controls, you may need to add a diode to the new switch ciircuit to prevent it from turning on other things.

Which ever way you go....

But your switch on the ground side of the relay. Your switch will last longer and won't run as hot.

tap it into the parking lights. so then when u turn your stick the first time.. parking light goes on.. and then you can control your switch for the foglights. This way ur fogs are on with ur headlights off.

Do you have a 3rd gen with fogs?;this is the simple mod for that:http://www.top4runners.com/ja/electrical.html#fogmode with factory fogs:

And no need for another switch or anything, just a simple wire mod in the fuse box under the hood.

A few questions for you if you don't mind?. I have a 2001 Tacoma and the so called factory fog lights are worthless. They are right next to the headlights and a candle would work better in the fog
Anyway looking at the link you sent me to I'm a little confused. If I hook up a set of fog lights the way it shows on that site will it work for my truck or do I have to use the other hook up suggested on the same site?
Also in my fuse box under the hood there is an open fuse spot that's marked "fog lights" and all though there is no fuse in it my fog lights work. I checked it with my light tester and it's hot and ready for a fuse. Could this be an extra slot for anyone wanting to hook up auxillery fog lights? This slot would work off the same relay for the head and fog lights now.
Thanks for any info you may have. Mike

I just did this this "mod" about 10 mins ago. You dont even have to get a new switch, the oem switch works fine. There are 3 wires connected to your foglight switch. Yellow, Purple, and Black. What you do is find a 12 volt source (one that is always on in your case) then splice it to the purple wire. I chose to spliced into my cigerette light which is connected to my parking lights, just in case i ever forget to turn it off. Thus, when i turn on my parking lights, i can also turn on my foglights regardless if my lowbeams were on or not. Reading this seemed alittle confusing (kind of in a hurry), but any questions feel free to ask.
