High RPM Hesitation

Hey guys,

I was hoping you could help me confirm a diagnosis I think I have.

Vehicle SPECS:
2000 4Runner SR5 4WD
3.4L V6 5VZ-FE
5 Speed Manual
155,000 miles

I have noticed when I go to WOT and I am above ~3500 RPM, the runner seems slightly lack luster in the power department. When I pull slightly off of WOT, say 10% at most probably, it feels like I get my power back, or at least most of it. I have also noticed in the mornings when I first take off, it seems to have a little hesitation it for a few seconds.

Here are my TPS readings:

Fully Closed: .48-.50
Fully Open: 2.47
VC-E2: 3.12

I also noticed when I am testing the TPS, when I come off of WOT, the voltage jumps up slightly (2.8-3.5 is what i was able to see) but then immediately comes back down. I cant seem to find the spot where I can hold the throttle at to see the spike and hold it, so I can't guarantee that it the meter not reacting fast enough, but I am doubtful of this.

Recent work done to the vehicle (problem existed before these were done, they were done for good measure):
Throttle body service at dealer (fuel injection service)
new o2 and AF sensors
Plugs done approx 12k ago with OEM NGK/Denso plugs
Wires done 250 miles ago

I think that the spike in the TPS reading is indicating that i have a bad TPS, even though the sensor high and low specs are within range.

So that's my diagnosis. Would you agree or can you suggest something else I should try.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mark

It could very well be a TPS issue, but the problems you're having look a lot like fuel delivery issues (filter, pickup, etc). Seeing that you had the fuel system serviced, you might wanna find out what they acutally did since "Dealer Fuel System Service" usually means they just poured in some injection cleaner.

What are you doing to need to WOT it? I'm just curious. In the many years of owning the 4Runner I never had the need or urge to do it. Maybe I have the same problem?

I like power? You should try it, its fun
I first noticed it when I was towing with it over the vine here in cal. I went to downshift to pass a semi and when I opened it up, I felt it. I also use the full range of the engine from time to time. You know, to clean out the carbon
