I have seen that engine before but it still amazes me how solidly they built it. I wish I could supercharge using a centrifugal type rather than a normal TRD blower cause you can intercool using the first type.
That machine is a schaweet ground-pounder.....

the second engine they built is a centrifugal supercharger ( notice the pulley and the gear reduction box )-- and it is intercooled on top of that i bet that would be a cost effective alternative to the trd blower.

Agreed!

Yeah, those two (twin turbo and the centripetal supercharged) 4Runners are awesome! They don't have it anymore, but they used to have a pic of the front of the supercharged 4Runner. The intercooler was mounted in the lower valence, a perfect fit and looked awesome!!! The TRD S/C is fine by me, but you're right, there's no way to intercool it. The only way to run cooler is the water-injection system that some guys are working on. The centripetal ones are almost exactly like a turbocharger, only they are spun by belts rather than exhaust gasses. I guess a good mental picture for the turbo and centripetal S/C would be a waterwheel. The roots type S/C's like the TRD ones are very different than the turbo's though -- they work with two internal interlocking turbines. I don't know about a mental picture for that...
