Help with a Supercharger
Ok....after long consideration, I have chosen to keep my 98 runner with 92K rather than buy a new Nissan Titan. My brother bought the Titan about 3 months ago, and while nice, it is just not a Toyota. For example, the brakes already have the shimmy's, at 4000 MILES!!! Just not what I want when it comes to reliability. (that engine is mean though!)
ANYWAY....I need more towing ability. I bought a bigger boat last summer, and it weighs in at about 4500-5000 pounds depending on gear. As you can imagine, the 3.4 liter is just overworked towing that big of load.
My plan is to bolt on a supercharger to get it up around 250 HP. I know a lot of threads discuss what other options need to go with a S/C, but I also want any new suggestions anyone might have.
My runner has the medium duty OME coils and shocks all around, as well as a K&N filter, and a dual high flow exhaust system. Is my rig set up ok to just go with the SC and go for broke? Should I be concerned about the transmission not being able to take all that I am gonna throw at her? I plan on installing a tranny cooler, but is that enough?
Anyone who tows heavy loads with a 3.4 with S/C setup and could help me out, I would really appreciate it.

anyone correct me if im wrong but i would figure a supercharger would put more stress on ur engine if ur hauling especially when thats around the vehicle max tow capacity. when ur hauling a load ur drivetrain undergoes stress and a S/C would only accelerate the tension in ur engine making it work too hard. An intake setup would be ideal save up some gas mileage and an exhaust after that, i would go with a heavier duty clutch to extend the life of that

I pull a 3,500 lb boat and the power with the S/C is great. But I want to get a truck to pull the boat because the 4Runner doesn't feel stable enough (too narrow and too short).
I think pulling a 5,000 boat will put a ton of stress on the transmission.
