Help needed with my axle code
First of all, I dont have a 4runner, its a 2.4 diesel Toyota Hilux Surf, identical in all but badge and engine to a 4runner of similar age.
The axle code is G254, giving me an 8" rear diff, 4.56 gearing, and 4 pinions.
When I browse US sites I notice they differentiate between '4 cyl' and 'V6 6 cyl' when talking about diffs. Which do you reckon I fall into, or does anyone know what the difference is and I might find out which category I fall into.
???
**edit** my engine is a diesel 4 pot but I'm not goin to presume this puts me in the 4 cyl group

Hello Jackpot,
I've simillar problem but yours is easily solved.
V6 4Runners are 4 pinion and 4cyl models are usually 2 pinion. This is why you see this.
So you must buy V6 models lockers, for example.
My problem is that I've G295 diff code, it meand 8'' 4.10 and LSD 4 pinion.
So, I can't go with a V6 lunchbox locker and I must change the carrier to an open one (Like yours) or buy a locker with new carrier...
