Help ! My 4runner takes to long to warm up .

I have 97 4runner 2.7L with 130 000 km on it.Last winter it used to warm up pretty fast compared to this year .I just changed the thermostat and coolant .But it still takes a while to warm up .Definantly longer than last winter . What else should I check or do ?

When was the last time your oil was changed? Could it be its just colder oustide then last year?

Hmm your in Toronto I see, then the coldness likely isn't it as we havent really had any really cold days lately.

Was it taking a long time to warm up before you changed the t-stat? If not, perhaps you put in a t-stat that opens at a different temp than your old one. The temp at which each t-stat opens should be stamped on it.

I changed the thermostat because of the time it took for the truck to get warm .The replacement thermostat is a Toyota 82 degree . I also use Mobil 1 and i`m due for a change in 800 km .

Heck, mine takes longer than that. It takes almost 10min at idle to warm up in the mornings. If I just jumped in and took off without letting it warm up first, it would take around 4 miles (freeway) to warm up. I don't think you have a problem.

I don't think that's a problem especially considering the temp. You must be about 0 Celsius I'm guessing. At -20 celcius it takes me 10 minutes for the the needle to register normal and 20 minutes before it's blowing full hot.

I had the same, my thermostat was stuck open....took forever to warm up. Also not a bad idea to change the rad cap at this time also. They get weak after time.
