Help with head unit

i just installed my new sony head unit on my 95 4runner today and i got all the colors of the wire's matching and all but the problem is my internal lights on my dash wont turn on anymore. Everything works except for that. Anyone now a solution because i would reallly like to see how fast im going at night.

You grounded the system. Take the unit back out and disconnect the orange wire(it should be orange, i think) and tape it up. That wire when connected will ground the system. Then check your fuses in the engine bay and replace the one you probably blew out. Should be the dome fuse i think.

More than likely you hooked up the ground from the radio to the illumination wire (green) at the factory radio harness...Bump to the previous post otherwise...

Did you plug your dimmer control back in? (Wire from the control knob on your dash needs to be plugged in for the dash lights to work...)

should be the orange wire, get a voltimeter, connect it, see if it comes on and off when you shut off your lights on/off. everything else is a breeze, you just need to cut out the orange wire and find the interior light wire

I've scratched my head for a good while and tore my dash apart a couple of times when forgetting this one. Easy to forget - that's why I asked. There might be a problem with the plug for this... You can try taking a small wire and jumping the two terminals in the dimmer wire connector that comes from the vehicle harness. That will rule the dimmer out as a problem...

Good Luck.

That all depends - WHERE are you seeing these? In the radio harness? Do you have either of these hooked up right now?
