I've been having a problem tonight trying to get the cv axle out of my girlfriends truck. I followed these instructions and everything was going really good until I got to the part of popping out the inner cv.

It will just not let go no matter how hard or how many people pry on it with a crowbar. Does this mean something is damaged inside the front diff to prevent it from coming out? I know there is a little clip on the clip but it doesn't seem to wanna let go. Anybody have any other ideas? At this point I may just try and get it back together tomorrow night and take it in to a mechanic. Thanks in advance.

pry on the correct flange, on 1 of the 3 "ears" of the CV. turn it 60 degress, pry on that flange, turn to the next flange, pry, repeat till it pops out.

I use a pry bar and hammer and knock it out. Just put the pry bar on one of the ears and hold it nice and tight. It may take a heavy swing. I've some of mine pop out easy and others be a PITA. But with just the right placement/leverage and a good swing of the hammer it will pop out.

I've tried both these methods as best as I can. Are the ears the 3 spots where there is a gap. Like a groove kinda? Thats where I had the bar hooked in. Do you need to have someone pry on it while you hit it with a hammer?

the lip is noted with the red arrow. Make sure you skid is removed and you may have to rotate the cv a little to find the right angle. . use a chisel or pry bar. Anything that will sit solid on that lip. Wouldn't hurt to have someone pry at the same time with a hammer. I was about to give up on mine but I just got a bigger hammer and took some heavy swings and it popped out.

I do the- pry-bar on flange, hit it hard with a 3# hand sledgehammer. If a few hits doesn't do it, rotate the axle (this will allow the C clip to fall into position), hit again.

Hit it hard.
