I put the 500 driving lights on the bumper and then cut out my front valence for some $30 fog lights. The 500's are awesome, and the fogs do the trick. I am definitely putting 100 watt bulbs in them though. I only wish I would have gotten an amber colored set. With the space that is available in the cut out, I'll probably try to fit some Hella 550 fogs in there. Each set of lights is on it's own relay, and has a lighted toggle switch in the cab to cancel them. So basically when the switches are on the fogs come on with the dims and the Hella's come on with the brights. I also added some Sylvania Silverstars which are a big improvement but are worthless in any kind of rain or snow. While doing this I also added some auxiliary fuse boxes, one goes on with ignition the other is always on..... I forget who, but I did the aux boxes based on what they had, so props to whoever that was!

By the way, has anybody put 100 watt bulbs in the Hella 500's? Does it make a worthwhile difference? I'm not having much luck finding the clear stone guards, anybody have a source?

you can put 100watt, I have before, It didnt make much of a difference....... so i took it out. it was a bit brighter.

Your set up looks good. What are you using to adjust the angles of the fixtures?

I don't think that 100 watt bulbs will make much of a difference, plus they might get too hot and crack the lens.

question: are those relays water or weatherproof? the area where you installed it is where water runs off to, as the cowl is bowed downwards from the center.

Where in the heck do you get those stinking relays?!!!! Napa says I need a compacitor. Autozone dont sell them, Advance doesnt know what a relay is or does but they say a switch is the same thing. I am tired of looking and not getting any GOOD answers from salesmen. I finally settled for a washer relay for an s-10 truck from my dealership to hook up to my backup lamps. Also.... please write what IS a relay and what it DOES so that I can shove it up the guy at Napa's butt!!

Okay I know for a FACT that all three of Napa, Autozone, and Advance Auto stock your basic Bosch style 12 volt relays. Napas are usually behind the counter back in the shelves so you have to ask for them, Autozone and Advance stock them near their other 12 volt wiring like switches etc, or by their aftermarket lights.... both of the stores near me have them stocked at a really low position, i'm not sure if they use the same store layouts in all their stores or not... as for something to show the dumbass who said you need a capacitor, this is the best site I've seen that really explains and SHOWS how exactly they work....http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/relays.htm

Thanks man. He was telling me if i wanted to wire up a set of off-road lights on top then i would need a compacitor for that and even called someone and had him to say the same thing. I'm not an electrical expert but what we've learned in school and my training technician has taught me I know more than I used to. From what I understand compacitors store electricity during voltage fluctuations or for controlled dimming (sleep mode in vehicles). I am just glad to know someone knows what they are talking about. BTW do you use a normally open relay for your fogs? I probably should wait for you diagram lol.

Okay note that I started a new thread for the wiring diagram. Hopefully it does the trick enough so somebody is confident in wiring something for the first time. A capacitor is basically a small storage device for electricity, you're right. They can be found in nearly any kind of electrical wiring scenario, and can be smaller than your fingernail or bigger than your car. However, THEY HAVE NO PLACE IN WIRING UP FOG LIGHTS!!! It's too bad that guy told you that btw, a good worker would have simply said he couldn't answer your question and found somebody who could....
